Additionally, you must either purchase residential real estate valued at a minimum of €700,000 or rent a residential property in Malta with an annual rent of no less than €16,000.
For the second citizenship-by-investment alternative, it is necessary to provide evidence of having lived in Malta for 36 months and making a payment of €600,000. Subsequently, you are required to acquire residential property in Malta valued at a minimum of €700,000 or option for renting residential real estate in Malta, with an annual rent of at least €16,000.
To qualify for citizenship through Malta’s Citizenship by Investment Program, the main applicant and their family members must meet certain requirements.
As the primary applicant, you must be at least 18 years old, in good health, and have a clean criminal record. You’ll also need to make a significant investment in Malta’s economy, either through a financial contribution or purchase of real estate.
Your spouse can be included in the citizenship application, regardless of gender or nationality. They must also be at least 18, in good health, and with a clean criminal background.
Unmarried children under 30 years old—including adopted children and children from previous marriages—can be included in the citizenship application. They must also meet the standard health and criminal requirements.
Your parents and grandparents over 55 years of age can apply for citizenship along with you. They must be primarily dependent on you financially and meet the health and background checks.
Unmarried siblings under 30 years old without dependents can also apply to become citizens of Malta through your application. They must be students or financially dependent on you and meet the standard requirements.

After receiving an invitation letter, you and family members aged 18+ must take the Oath of Allegiance for a Certificate of Naturalization. For passport applications, all family members aged six and above must provide biometrics in person.
To obtain Maltese citizenship under the citizenship by investment program, the main applicant must make a non-refundable contribution of €600,000 to the Maltese government.
Dependents eligible for the Malta citizenship application include a spouse or de facto partner, children under 18, dependent adult children under 29 who are unmarried and financially reliant on the main applicant. Additionally, parents and grandparents over 55 who are fully or significantly supported by the main applicant qualify as dependents.
